Re: Group head for Elektra Cappuccina
Thanks. I actually tried to make a home made spacer out of a rubber plumbing washer I had but it wasnt quite the right size and didnt hold up to the heat generated by the boiler very well. Lasted a week. Having a proper group seal that is a third thicker than the one I have now would probably do the trick, or a better spacer sitting under my existing seal. Open to suggestions as to where I can get these from...I live in regional queensland and I dont think I can source them locally. If someone thinks they can supply them please send a pm with details. I can take a photo of existing seal if needed.

Its just wear- so I see no reason why youd replace the group...
You should be able to get a thicker group seal or pop in a spacer....

Group head for Elektra Cappuccina
New to forum and need advise. I have a 10 year old Elektra Cappuccina machine that is starting to misbehave. I performed some general maintenance on it (i.e. replaced the group gasket and the showerscreen) but it doesnt seal properly under pressure most of the time because the group head is corroded on the inside (especially the rails the filter basket runs along when you twist the handle to secure). The portafilter isnt properly seated inside once tightened... The machine makes a pretty good shot when it works, quality wise it isnt bad (has a brass boiler, copper tubing, etc). Can the group head be replaced? So far I havent had any luck sourcing one. If not, can it be fixed, or is it time to invest in a new machine? I could run out and purchase a new Sylvia or similar but the Elektra was a wedding present so I would like to salvage it if possible. The group head is 8cmx8cmx4cm high. Photos below.
