  • ECM Giotto Classic Restoration

    Hi all,

wanted to share a resto I did recently.

I’d always wanted a Giotto and recently had the opportunity to pick up a pretty run down 2002 Giotto Classic that needed a lot of TLC.

Completely stripped the machine down and did a full descale and replaced all the seals, new pump, polish and a lot of elbow grease and some wooden accents.

Pretty happy with the outcome and just wanted to share with a like minded bunch!

    Enjoy!

Great job. Looks as if a machine like this can go for a very long time with a bit of TLC every now and then. Cannot say the same about a Sunbeam.

          Thanks!

Defo will last longer than a sunbeam! lol

Best thing about these machines is the parts are all quite standard.
All the replacement parts that I used were from the current Rocket models.

Fantastic! Is it easy to replace the knobs and lever handle with wooden ones?

Very easy! For this particular machine, it was as simple as unscrewing a nut and replacing the knobs. The lever handle just twists right off.

For the later model Giotto’s that used non-compression steam and water valves, there is thread built into the knobs. They are slightly different, but still easy to replace.
just need to make sure you get the right knobs.
