Removing shower screen screw off EM6910

yeah thats the driving force for me now, why pay $7 for a single screw, i couldnt get mine out initially but using a Dremel type device I cut a groove but decided to try these but havent had to try them officially yet. next time i take the shower screen out for a clean, then i will see if they fit. I have a skeleton of an EM6910 that supposedly works fine if you need parts. While i am thinking of it I have also had great success soldering not crimping in thermal fuses, get them online for a few bucks for a dozen so have them if you need them. easy to replace.

Thanks but I was able to get it out and luckily it is only slightly stripped so it still works fine.

I have spare screws or if you are near a Bunnings there are these Otter M4 x 8mm Undercut Stainless Steel 304 Hinge Screws - 16 Pack (bunnings.com.au)

Thanks everyone. Cleaned it with what I had and it worked fine. Will buy and the brass wire brush or steel wool truck next time I take off the screen.

I've found that a stainless steel scouring pad wrapped around a short length of bamboo chopstick or a popstick gets into the group seal groove and cleans it up quite well. Sometimes, when there is a lot of corrosion in there, a cardboard shim may be needed to get the handle to lock in at the correct position.

Thanks all, I was able to take off the screw when I turned it upside down. Since getting it I have backflushed many times so that must have helped as well. As well as extra downforce when the machine is upside down.

Just try turning it on and running water through the grouphead to heat it up, and then take a large screw driver bit to try and get it out. Try tapping the screw a bit as it's probably stuck in there with all the gunk.
Worst case, you may need to sacrifice the screens by cutting them off, and then using some multigrips to grab on to the screw to remove it. Had to do that once when I was in a similar scenario.

As long as you remove the water tank and drip tray it should be OK. Just check around for any signs of 'free' water first and maybe put it somewhere warm for a while afterwards. Also, don't forget to take the cup warming tray plate off the top.

Removing shower screen screw off EM6910
Hi all,
I just got a 2nd hand old EM6910 (2008 build) and happy with it. In good condition but I can't get the shower screen screw out. I have been able to with a newer version but this one is stuck and I have stripped the screw a bit.
I have searched these forums already and have read all the tips on how to do this so I will try those tips shortly. The only question I have is I can see that some people put the machine upside down to do this. I will of course unplug it, remove the water tank and drip tray but was just wondering if there is anything else I need to do before putting it upside down? Do I need to empty out the machine from water by running the pump empty?
Thanks!
