  • Sunbeam EM6910 - very watery brew

    Hi

First post for me - just found the forum - very impressed?
I have a Sunbeam EM6910 - 3rd generation of the cafe series I've had over many many years of snobbery
All good til last week when it started to give me mainly water with some coffee grit in my double shots - yuk
Cleaned the machine, changed the washer, cleaned out my grinder - grind is fine - have checked it independently - still just outputting water having passed quickly through the group head

Any clues where to look - what to do?

    thanks
    Andrew

The coffee grounds making their way into the cup is the key point here. Check the rim of the filter basket very closely, it has probably split somewhere around the perimeter, happens fairly often, more so on later model machines.

you are an absolute legend...many thanks from a fellow central west coffee snob (I'm in Orange)
I couldn't see it until I got it at the right angle with a light behind - 2.5cm crack inside the rim...found the box of old supplies - replaced basket and all is well with the world again!!!
