  • Issues getting ratio on Rancilio Rocky/ Silvia Combo

    Hey guys,
Having issues getting my rocky/sivlia combo to get a decent 1:2 ratio. Any tips? So far i have:
reset the zero on the grinder,
    changed the burrs,
    changed the head gasket,
Put a precision tune up kit on the grouphead with an IMS fine screen.

I still get around 30ml in about 10 seconds using a the standard 14g portafilter. Attached are photos of my puck and crema.

What beans are you using? When were they roasted (different to expiry date)? Can you give us more info on exactly what you're doing (grams in and out, setting on grinder, are you hopper dosing or single dosing the grinder, anything else you can think of?

If the loose grinds on the flanges of the portafilter are indicative of what is going into the basket, the grind looks way too coarse (but sometimes photos do odd things). It also seems a pretty full dose which could give rise to channelling. I'm guessing the divot in the puck is caused by a screw in the shower screen?

Local roasted beans. Roast date 11th July Doing 14grams in, attempting to get 30 grams out but normally pours to quick and I go over. Grind setting on my rocky is down to 3 from calibrated 0.

Yeah that's the one shower screen bolt. Haven't done the flush screw mod for the Silvia yet. I'm down to 3 on the rocky from true 0 doing the wind to stop, reattach hopper, mark zero calibration method.

Onangry look it does look to be ground way too coarse. Can you remove the stop and grind finer?
