  • ECM Giotta - No Stream Pressure + Leaking Water (VIDEO ATTACHED)

    Hey!

I'm having some issues with my ECM Giotto and hoping someone could shed some light on the situation and point me in the right direction to get it fixed.

Here is the Process that shows the symptoms every time.
    1. Turn Machine on, Element Begins to heat water. The pump usually doesn't kick in
    2. Water Heats and Pressure begins to rise.
    3. Pressure Swings between 1-2bar
    4. Pump Kicks in Occasionally, when it does, water leaks out of the top of the Vacuum Braker Valve and Spits water out of the Pressure Relief Safety Valve I believe as shown in the video:
    5. As soon as you open the steam Valve, pressure drops to 0-0.2bar and dispenses mainly water, and little, if any steam.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Seems like the main issue is the boiler is overfilling... Level probe, board?? Safety valve should only release if there is overpressure...

      Yes.

If the machine has the Gicar RL30 controller, check the voltage between F8 (Cald) and chassis ground. It should go to zero when the machine is full. If it doesn't the level probe is dirty or the connection is bad. If it does the controller itself is the problem.

Have it professionally serviced. If you needed to ask, it's probably worth getting someone with the answers to do it properly rather that to try applying band-aids

As others have said mate, either you’ve got a very dirty fill probe or there is an issue with the control board. Unfortunately I suspect the latter.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll start by having a look at the probe.

The Control box was replaced recently by the previous owner with a rocket one, so maybe, and hopefully it is just the probe.

UPDATE: Unsure exactly what the issue was. But I removed the Probe, and while it was dirty, I gave it a clean and descale. I also removed all the connections from the Control Box, had a look, everything appeared to be ok, then re connected it all. After having one issue of it not refilling, it has been working well for the past month now. I'll continue to monitor it, but it looks like that may have fixed it!
