I’ve also taken a turn towards single dosing, rather than a timed dose from the grinder.

It’s left me wondering do I go for the Niche Zero because I like how mess free the workflow of grind to cup, cup to portafilter is… but I’m not sure I can trust the brand long term - e.g will they still be there in 5 years.

The Eureka single dosing grinder is a few months away & is for a brand I expect to be around for longer - but looking like $1.4k… I’m wondering if I can get the same mess free grinder result from using a dosing cup with the Specialista - or even the Silenzio? If anyone has seen this work without mess I’d love to know.

I was looking at the niche as well just the other day given they were back in stock for the AU socket, but given that it would be sometime in Jan that i'd end up getting the grinder have decided against. I also agree that potentially the Niche Zero brand and reliability is still untested for the long term given how "new" to the market they are.

Here's a youtube vid of workflow from a single dosed modded silenzio. https://youtu.be/TVNZaJpnVtc

And here are some etsy links for what i've been researching on angled bases and single dose hoppers with bellows:

      Hope the links work.

I think i've made my decision to go with the silenzio. Just a matter now of finding the right price and choosing colour!!! Black or White?!?

FonzieM Thanks, I took a look at the links and it helped me make up my mind, decided not to try and single dose and I went with @tompoland 's X54 https://coffeesnobs.com.au/forum/mar...ounder-grinder

I also picked up the BDB for $900 + $150 for the 5 year extended warranty at the Goodguys. It wasn't on their website or on display but they had it when I asked for it. (I also picked up two phone plans with the $400 gift cards so not sure how much that factored into the pricing, as I was putting the Gift Cards towards the BDB at the same time)

Nice work PaulVarjack I hope you enjoy both the BDB and the new grinder!

I'm having fun every day tweaking the settings slightly until i get it where i want it.
Right now my biggest issue is consistent distribution and tamping as i'm able to see the channelling when pulling shots (naked portafilter!).
The stock BDB tamp is just a bit too small for the basket which is causing all sorts of annoyance.
