We have just started using our machine again after a long period of no use. It is not registering bar pressure but is still making coffee, should we be worried, what does it mean? Thank you in advance.

Are you saying that you're seeing normal pressure on the way the coffee comes out but the gauge is reading incorrectly, or are you saying the gauge is reading correctly and you're not getting much pressure?

The gauge was not registering any pressure at all but after playing with it a little today and changing to the dual wall filter, we got a pressure reading of 8 which I believe is about right ... ?? To us, the flow of coffee from the group head looks OK but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. 🤪 I'm also unsure of the correct terminologies being very new to coffee making of this kind.

Are the beans you're using the same bag from last time you used the machine? Sounds like old beans. The dual wall basket is giving sufficient resistance for the pump to build up pressure, but the stale beans either need to be ground finer or are so old they won't provide enough resistance no matter how fine you grind them.

When we decided to set the machine up again, we bought a new bag of beans. We grind as we need and store the beans in the freezer. We have the Breville grinder set one stop back from 'fine'.
Using the dual single cup filter this morning the pressure went to about 7.5. We were happy with this, your thoughts please?

Dual wall single basket? The pressure is from the basket. Try it without coffee. It'll take a bit longer to fill with water but once it's full you'll get the same pressure.
When were the beans roasted?
Are you using the Breville grinder? BCG800 or BCG 820?
