  • Breville infuser program light blink and beep not operational

    Hey guys… I’m at a loss here. I have a breville infuser (Bes840).
the issue is the program light will blink and beep and the only button that will function is the power button.
I originally took it apart and found when I unplugged one of the solenoids it started working fine, so naturally I purchased a new solenoid assembly and it worked great for a few days. After that the same problem occurred. If I mess with it enough turning it on and off I can get it to pull a shot, so I know the pump/water flow/power is working. The problem happens while it’s hot, if it’s unplugged for awhile then plugged in and turned on it the power will flash as normal until temperature reached and then the program will flash and all buttons become useless.

I also purchased a new pcb board from breville and installed that with no change to the symptoms. The steam and water function will work fine even with the issue.

ok here’s the really weird part, every now and then the machine will not turn on and I have to unplug/plug it back in a few times for it to power on. The odd part is even with it off the thermocoil is heating, everything is getting power including the solenoid valves!!!! The triac board had some white marks on it but it is testing fine per ohms on my multimeter.

the only thing I can think of is the power/program button pcb board may be bad and causing a short with the program button?

also when it will randomly work to pull a shot all of the buttons work normally.

thank you guys for any help you have. I love this little espresso maker and I’d hate to get rid of it.

Kinda thought I’d get a reply by now ??‍♂️… well for anyone else having this problem…. It appears to be one the power/program pcb board. When disconnecting and reconnecting the board I can duplicate the “program flash and beep” scenario each and every time. With the connector half plugged in to the main pcb (leds not lit) the machine pulls a shot each time and is not erroring out so it looks like there’s something up with the button pcb board. I used my multimeter on it and can’t find an issue but there are some smaller connectors/diodes or something of that nature on the board that must be bad. I will order a new power/program pcb board and update my post when I test it out.
hopefully this can help someone else.

Cplacido welcome to the forum. Thanks for putting your result up. My guess is the BES840 owners are less likely to visit daily, you would probably have to wait longer. A BES920 owner would see more answers as more visit daily

The power/ program button control board was bad. Replaced and now it’s good as new
