  • EM6910 - Steam Problem ?

Over the last couple of days Ive been experiencing odd behaviour with steam on my EM6910

After making espresso, I clear the steam wand, then immerse it in my milk jug and re-open up the valve. I get a second or two of steam and then nothing. Its almost as if it has a blockage - but I know that it doesnt. I pull it out of the jug, open up the valve, it spurts out some milk (clears itself) and then Im good to go again. Occasionally it will happen a second time, but usually it will keep going.

    Anyone experienced this ?

Anything to be concerned about ?

    Thanks,

    Paul

This is just a guess... I suggest you open the steam valve a little bit before immersing the tip into the milk. I have heard that it is possible for the milk to get sucked up into the wand when you open the valve while it is submerged.

See if it makes any difference.

I use a 6910 at work every day.

        Yours isnt working properly hombre.

You should be able to turn on the steam for a purge, turn it off, put the wand into the milk and turn it back on for steaming, non-stop until youre finished.

        I suggest ringing Sunbeam.

When the old 6900 had a problem with its steam they made me run through some process involving shot buttons and the hot water wand.
I cant remember how it all went.

If you still have the problem after their evaluation Id be betting they want it back for repair.

Hi, Yep its broke. Mine had the same problem for a while, steam would work
or not as it decided, make weird noises and then eventually the steam pump
failed. Took it in to the SC and they replaced the pump - as well as a bunch
of other things I didnt even ask for, group head seal, some other internal seal
or gasket and gave me a new drip tray (god knows why). So yeah take it
          for service.

          Cheers
