  • BES500BSS Breville Bambino plus - Owners thread

Had this machine fir a few months now and was hoping to share ideas, hacks and workflows with other owners.

Not sure $500-$1500 is the correct place as the machine can be had below $500.

    Currently own:

    1) BES500BSS Bambino Plus
    2) BCG820BSS The Smart Grinder Pro
    3) Neouza 53mm bottomless PF + basket
    4) Neouza 2 in 1 tamper & distributer

There are already a multiplicity of other threads dedicated to the Bambino Plus on here as a quick search will show, including ones dedicated to tips and hacks for the machine. Using the Advanced Search, search for threads with Bambino in the title, limit your search to the Midrange forum, and select Topics view. That will get you a nice compact listing of all the threads discussing the Bambino Plus.

      Late thank you Javaphile,

It appears that none of those threads are that active so I will just post a question here.

Been using the Bambino Plus for nearly 18 months!

Recently I have started to notice that the shots are coming almost lukewarm and that the coffee is generally sour.

So this morning I decided to actually test it and take some videos.

      Method 1

Using the milk jug with the thermo sticker on the side and ran a couple of shots (This was after running a couple of shots to warm machine up)

      Result: barely reached 70C

      Method 2

Using InkBird bbq thermometer I placed it in a cup and again ran a couple of shots (Again this in the same period as last test so machine should be warm)

Result: shot up to 75c but quickly dropped to about 65c

      Method 3

Using the same thermometer. I punched a hole in a cardboard cup with the thermometer (pretty tight seal) I than placed the cup directly under the group head and ran a couple of shots

Result: got up to 81c but quickly dropped to 79c

I have since created a work order with Breville but that will mean I will lose the machine for a couple of weeks at least and I wanna avoid losing the machine only to get the "We have tested the machine here and it appears to be working well."

Question 1) Based on the methods I have used are these accepted results and the temp at the puck will be closer to 90-95?

Question 2) I haven't seen too many videos testing the BP temp but what should I be expecting?

Question 3) If the methods I have used are completely wrong how should I test it at home before losing it to Breville?
