Guys, I have been checking out a La Pavoni lever machine (it's pre 2000, so 22+ years old now).
It's 2nd hand and the owner wants $NZD600.
He tells me that he can't use it now as it trips the RCD's in his new house (but apparently worked fine in his previous house with old fashioned fuses).
I'm thinking that maybe 'something' has gone awry with the machine. Maybe during the house move.
Surely it would have no more power draw than an electric jug, etc?
What faults do these La Pavoni get that would cause excessive power draw?
My home is new too, and has all RCD protection so if La Pavoni don't like RCD's then no use to me either.
I'm thinking I should buy new, as this one is about 1/2 price of a new one anyway. But...it does look nice, and I could be tempted.
Thanks for any thoughts, comments.
