  • Bezzera DEB 3000 MPN Compact

I've just received this machine with no really knowledge of its history.

Suffice to say, plugging it in and making a coffee has not been successful.

No problem, I paid $50 for it so I'm happy to work through the issues.

    Leaking water pump first, replaced.

Now it trips my 15A adaptor.

So I know its a 20A machine so one might say it needs 20A to run.

I am working on that but in the meantime I wanted to put this out there and get any feedback others might have.

I feel the machine should operate on low load with 15A but it only stays on for about 10 seconds then trips.

No buttons being pressed ... just power on.

Theres a contactor relay after the main power in which is noisy, dirty and I suspect not operating properly so I've ordered a new one of those.

Anything else I should focus on?

Hello Nsharpley, welcome to the forum. How do you get the machine to operate on low load? Warm the boiler water first? When the water in the boiler is cold the element has to use maximum power to get it up to temperature. If long term you want to run it off 15amp you could try a lower power element. The element will be using the most power of anything within the machine.

Without sounding smart you may want to be very careful playing with this machine and 230V if you don't often work with 230V, no cost saving is worth your life.

Electric current draw is determined by the load, not the protection device. The protection device is just there to trip if more than the allowed current is drawn. There's no way for the machine to know what sized outlet you've plugged it into. If the machine is set up for 20A then that's what it will draw unless an electrician / qualified technician changes it (e.g. changing the element as 338 mentioned).
