ah, my dear old machine was given a well deserved clean and descale, and then refused to pump water
i believe i had flushed it enough to not have scale blocking anything, but i'm not an espresso surgeon
anyway, the pump had sounded strange for a while (pregnant pause after the coffee button was pushed, before starting), and after the clean, a very soft buzz from the pump rather than the usual vigorous vibration
ahah! i thought, and purchase a replacement and fitted it according to the instructions online (although the italian guy makes it look like it just "drops in there" when in fact i had to remove a lot of wires to gain access) and tried it out
the new pump made appropriate noises, and the boiler heats up, but it doesn't siphon from the tank, although initially it seemed to do so briefly, and water came through the group head filter, but expect it was residual water forced out from the boil ?
and now, 2 days later, the lights are on, but no-one is home ? - all 3 lights red, no pump noise, but the boiler heats up (didn't leave it on long, as i don't want it to burn out)
i have no idea what is going on
my presumption is that there was either:
whilst i am happy to concede defeat and get it serviced if needs must, the current turnaround time is 4-6weeks locally, and i am desperate for decent coffee, although the emergency backup is a delonghi ec680m which does a passable job, and i am building muscle using the porlex mini grinder as anita is unplugged and awaiting my further surgery if appropriate
help me, oh obi wan, you're my only hope !!
is there something simple i can do to resurrect it, even if it requires taking up tools to do so
delonghi coffee is passable, but it ain't the same as the good old days

my presumption is that there was either:
- a blockage internally from the scale (unlikely - sydney water is not that hard, and previous descale didn't cause any problems)
- there is a valve somewhere that has failed or stuck (same diff)
