  • Factory Reset Sunbeam EM7000

After about 7-9 years my Sunbeam EM7000 is reliably playing up (intermittently refusing to power on, steam wand not working). I sourced a 3 year old 2nd hand replacement that appears to have everything working. However, it seems to be pushing water through the group head at a higher than normal temperature. I suspect the previous owner has messed with the PID interface and changed stuff. How do I tell it to 'factory reset' so I can then debug if there are other issues?

Sorry for the noise, consulted the owners manual and it detailed how to do this! In short: hold down 'manual' button and press 'power' and release 'manual'. Wait fro beeps (I got beeps)! Thanks anyway!

Drawing a shot after that, definitely better (I didn't bother with milk etc just tried the bare taste).

In an effort to clean up this machine I've run the descale and clean protocols. Interesting to see tomorrow if coffee tastes better!

          G'day Mark...

You might get more responses if this is posted in the "Midrange $500-$1500" category, as most CSers who own one of these will search in there before the next category up.

          Mal.

Thank you (it was intended to be posted there), I clearly fat fingered (or mouse'd) it...

So that above steps seem to have solved the bitter issue. In addition to that, the machine had not been regularly cleaned (water smelled moldy). I got it serviced, but have since run full de-scale and 2 additional thermoblock cleaning cycles to get the last dregs of smelly water sorted.. I have (I think) solved all the issues and have good coffee again!
