  • EM6910  noises in the night

My son has a 6910 and he commented that he has been hearing noises from his machine during the night, as though it is heating up and producing steam??
    Anyone experienced this phenomena??

Re: EM6910  noises in the night

They do make some odd noises at times. If it is left on it will make a clicking sound from time to time. If the machine is turned off I read a thread where it may still make noises and should be turned off at the wall. I always turn mine off at the wall overnight and have not experienced any funny noises. However when I leave it on during the day it makes a range of noises but none that I would be concerned about. Safety wise if it is not being used overnight it is better turned off at the wall.

I would say that he has been having way too many late night coffees, not that you can really have too many that is......... I often find myself stareing at the ceiling but I can honestly say that i havent heard too many strange sounds coming from my espresso machine though. Sooooo where and what beens has he been consuming lately, maybe they have been grown way too closely to another type of crop commonly grown in columbia and many other places and he is feeling the effects of that... .................... mwha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ........ only kidding......

Turn it off at the wall!
My machine would occasionally sound like it was brewing coffee when was off. One day I woke up to the smell of burning plastic and I wished I hadnt forgotten to unplug it.

This may be serioius. I had the same thing - pump noises when it was switched off. Turned out to be an internal leak from the pump, causing water on the main board which was switching the machine on internally. Id take it in for repairs before it does further damage...

Update - this problem has returned after a few months. Of course, it had to happen on a weekend. Ive emailed the every-helpful Poppy and look forward to hearing back tomorrow.

I never leave it on.... Switched off at the wall and when I want it... Two clicks. One at the wall and press the power on the machine...

Reverse process once the coffee has been made...

                  Energy efficient and Fire safe.

Only thing that runs full time in our kitchen, is the fridge... Microwave and every thing else is OFF at the wall... No standby for us.

So what was the fix by the service people last time ???

Re: EM6910  noises in the night

They claim there was a leak which was shorting the main board. They replaced the pump and boiler (or so they claim).
Im interested, AM, in your large collection of EM6910s. Do you keep two spare as cover while one is in for repairs?

Interesting to know how they changed the boiler in a thermoblock machine.
Who was the service centre if you dont mind me asking?

They might have said "boiler" thinking that dumb customers wont know what a "thermoblock" is.

One is mine (Home), one is for work ( Shared with the Quality Officer) and the other was bought by mistake.. Miss identified in e-nasty and then I put on a silly bid (Grinder, Knock box and 6910 plus extras) and won it...

Have tried to sell at work but they are all waiting for a big drop in prices and want NEW ones for x-mas.

Thus shortly will be back on e-nasty
