Hi everyone,
I have just received a BES860 that is in need of repair.
Things I did so far:
- multiple citric acid flushes, until only water was coming out
- a few cleaning cycles with sodium percarbonate (most did not complete, but it did at least a few rounds)
The transparent flexible pipes look clean, now, and there is no debris in the water that is flushed out.
The symptoms are multiple, depending on planet alignment:
- the machine turns off at random times, for instance while pulling a shot or doing the cleaning cycle
- makes a loud rattling noise either while pulling a shot or after, as if the solenoid valve kept going from open to close. When this noise happens I can
If I keep turning the machine on, it eventually manages to pull a shot.
Yesterday evening it seemed like it was working more or less fine, as in it could pull shots, even though it could not get through a whole cleaning cycle without turning off multiple times.
This morning, it took about half an hour before I could pull a shot, as it kept making that rattling sound and couldn't build the pressure or shut down.
Symptoms:
- rattling noise (less frequent) https://youtube.com/shorts/bHiNNa77rGQ
- successful single cleaning round https://youtube.com/shorts/cUbCR37zTJ0
- shut-down during cleaning cycle https://youtube.com/shorts/AaC7SjlRVlk
- internals: successful cleaning round https://youtube.com/shorts/vM1vU1Bg6hc
- internals: shutdown (2nd half of the video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkzOpf46Jk8
My guess is the PCB might be sending the wrong signals to the solenoid.
When the rattling noise happens, I see the pipe going into the thermocoil vibrates, then stops vibrating, then vibrates again, as if the water influx was intermittent.
It seems like the PCB might be frantically opening/closing the solenoid.
That said, it's my first experience with coffee machines so I might not be making any sense
I haven't accessed the PCB yet, but I plan to do so, soon.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could try next?
