I replaced the seal not too long ago and already the new one has died.
A big chunk came away from it today.
About 0.5 cm triangular piece.
I tried putting the old 6900 one in (which Id kept for an emergency) but it still leaks.
The collar is worn, which is why I put a spacer in under the last blue seal.
The machine is just on 9 months old.
It does get a lot of use.
Probably a dozen a day.
I rang SB but didnt strike the usual generous operator and so had to ring an agent to cost the part.
Luckily there is a a new one 5 minutes from home that also oopens on Saturdays unlike the previously closest one.
I also asked about a spacer as Id like to put off a warranty fix of the collar for as long as possible.
He said he had a silicon spacer. Sounds fancy and must contribute considerably to the total price.
He quoted approx. $25 for both the seal and spacer.
Ive emailed the guys at work that I know use the machine and the boss because hed just asked me for a coffee as the seal blew, so missed out.
So far I have offers to donate $5 each from those that have responded so far so we spread the joy.
Luckily I have the Aeropress or Presso to get me by for a couple of days as Im taking an extra long weekend starting Friday and not returning to work until Wednesday.
The rest of them will have to suffer until Im back with the parts.
