Re: Nemox Dell Opera
Hey Tim,
Thanks for that. I wondered what the numbers were for, that makes sense. I have adjusted the numbers by 10 turns & Ill see what happens with my next pour. Im gathering from all the reading Ive done that a good tamper helps too.

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
Hi Carla,
providing you leave the hopper in the one spot or close to the same the numbers on it are a good guide to where you are. Just as a reference point I used to place the hopper with the "1" mark to the front for espresso so I knew if I had been using it for espresso or syphon grind. Basically lower numbers are finer grind so if you turn the knob and the hopper is going anti clockwise (looking from the top) you are getting finer.

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
That is correct snob behaviour only put in what you plan to use
Even on my big grinder I fill just the inlet chamber with beans which is about 30-40g to do me 2 doubles. Sometimes If I am home for the day or have a few people around I might throw in 100g or so into the 2.5kg hopper
With the IC it takes a lot of turns to notice a difference in the grind because of the gearing. About 20-25 turns out would be a normal commercial plunger type setting (course) where I prefered a medium setting for Syphon or Plunger and a shorter brew time. Even when changing bean batches for espresso I was tweaking +/- 1 turn.

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
ok, now im going to sound like a complete knob. I have been putting into the grinder what I need for each coffee. I take it this is not what you are meant to do????????

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
While you are winding it down either empty it out or run it as you get finer to save jamming beans in the burrs. If you hear metal on metal STOP :

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
Hi Carla,
I have a feeling that IC grinder you got from me may have been on a fine plunger setting(thought about it after I posted it) which would put it about 12 turns to coarse? The beans I sent you will now be about 2.5 weeks post roast if you are using them.
best of luck with the lost crema
Whoops typing at the same time

Re: Nemox Dell Opera
Hi Carla,
Not sure about the Krups, it may have had so called crema enhancing disc or baskets, which will give appearance of good crema even with stale beans.
The Nemox should be capable of some good shots with freshly ground, fresh beans, and a suitable grinder.
If your beans are more than about 3 weeks post roast, it wont help.
Quality of grinder makes a big difference, minimum suitable grinder would be Sunbeam emo450, many other suitable grinders can be found in these pages.
If your beans are really fresh, say 2 days to 3 weeks from roasting, suggest following;
- ensure machine has had approx 45 mins to warm up, with pf lightly fitted into the grouphead, (seems like a long time if you not used to it, but easy to manage once you get used to it)
- Grind into the basket till it is overfull, tap pf on the bench 2 or 3 times to settle grinds, add extra grinds if required, level off with suitable straight edge, tamp evenly, and see what happens.
Regards
Bullitt

Nemox Dell Opera
Hi All,
Help please! Ive just acquired a Nemox Dell Opera & I dont seem to be getting any crema? I have little experience in coffee matters & dont understand what I am doing wrong. I was using a Krups XP4020 & getting crema consistently. I grind freshly each time before pulling a shot.
Thanks
