Youre absolutely right. I should have been more patient and by the beans from a decent coffee supplier who roast their beans themselves.

    Firstly, welcome to Coffee Snobs.

You will probably find that when you buy some fresh beans you wont need to grind finer.

You wont find fresh beans in a supermarket.

Krups XP7240 How to make decent coffee

Hi, I just bought a Krups XP7240 from DealsDirect for $499. Its a refubished model which means it has been on the selves at a shop. Mine was brand new and I was eager to try it out. Unfortunately all shops were closed except IGA which sells ordinary Victoria beans. So I tried the Vic beans which made a very weak and blend coffee. After experimenting I discovered that it can produce a very decent capuccino and long black. Just press twice the strong espresso button (50 ml) and froth the milk. Some people complained about the froth. To make the froth hot enough, I found that you use the warm water first (I make the long black for my wife first) and then froth the milk with the gadget (milk canister).
I would love to hear from any one else who has found better settings or methods. Ideally I would like to grind the coffee a bit finer than the current finest setting.
