    Re: Anti Suction Valve Leak

Leaks from the steam valve and hot water valve are cheaply and easily fixed with a rebuild kit.

    Re: Anti Suction Valve Leak

Semi permanent plumbing done, and machine up & running. May be a small leak from the hot water valve as I have noticed a drip which seems to come and go irrespective of valve usage. Functionally though the machine is brilliant, makes a great long black virtually every time on both the single and double baskets, and the misses are always obvious in cause - (new beans, small grind change needed is usually the problem). Now, I just need to tame the steam/milk interface........

    JavaB exactly right as usual.

What do you mean by this.... :-?

Usually = implies that it may not always be so.

When have we ever known JavaB to be wrong

JavaB exactly right as usual. O-ring was as hard as nails and broke apart when removed. Seat has very minimal surface deterioration, I am certain it will easily seal when under boiler pressure. Now I need to complete the permanent plumbing hook up so testing/tasting can resume!

Thanks for that info. I will remove it & inspect the damage -everything else has been in amazingly fine fettle, so hopefully an o-ring will remedy it.

    ento,

It needs a kit put in it....

The antivac valve on an LC should splutter at start up - as you suggest.

It should then seal totally (nothing coming out at all)... either the seat is damaged or corroded... or if you are lucky.... just the O ring will need replacement.

    Re: Anti Suction Valve Leak

Thanks Mal, a wealth of information there alright. It seems the small "leak" I have noticed is relatively normal on this type of machine. I had expected a bit of a splutter at start up, but not an almost continuous tiny outflow. Any comments from owners of (older) La Cimbali machines regarding the output from this valve would be appreciated.

Heaps of info to be found by searching the forum "ento".... Try searching with keywords "anti-vacuum" and see how you go....

    Anti Suction Valve Leak

Just finished my first test run of my M27 Start. All seems to work O.K. except for a very small but constant leak/hiss from the anti suction valve. I will remove and inspect for the cause, but what does this valve actually do? P.S. love the "dry" steam this machine makes!
Working...
