As Pennance I Post this.
Found a Product at Bunnings that may be of interest to some, Called Brite Shine, Yellow tin in the Paint section, Made by Kenco Car care in Meadowbank NSW..
It seems to be a type of Cotton wool impregnated with? white spirit and a mild Jewellers Rouge? My take on it ?.
Its for mild polishing, think it cost me $10 bucks for a 5oz tin 3x3 inches.. Used it several times already, Itll last me years
and this
Couple of New Handles made from New Guinea Kwila, the original Plastic ones were shot, apparentl according to my mate it turns quite nicely. //Probably will make the Tamper Handle from the same Material, Still looking in the Garage for a suitable bit of Stainless. Did find some treasures in the Garage, Autoclave Acidic scale Cleaner
The yardstick I usually use in determining what color to repaint something is this: If Im looking at it as a collectable that may some day be sold as such I match the original color(s). If on the otherhand its purely for personal use or has no collectable value then I go with the color(s) I want.
Might I suggest using a powdercoat rather than a paint. You will end up with a much better looking and performing finish that will easily out-last any paint.
I have been picking at the edges of the Gaggia, trying to find bits and pieces that I can pull off without cleaning the Garage up to find the tools that i need, but unfortunatly it seems that i may have to bite the bullet and actually get off my arse and rationalise the good old Aussie boys shed..
Ill pony up for some new plastic handles when I can justify the cost..
meanwhile a Mate ran me up 2 new porta filter handles from New Guinea Kwila (to 80% still need some work with the Dremmel - god only knows where that is) Cleaned the Stainless trays drip, and over heater and mildly polished them.
I would appreciate some input on aesthetics..
The front side Panels are aluminium and have been painted with a Brown finish- ex Factory I can get a Panelbeater mate to match this, Mission Brown - describes it appropriatly, ? Should I try to keep it original or Go for broke and put a Fancy Paint job on it . FWIW I dont want to sell the Group, it will probably reside in my Garage, the Kids may want to sell it when I pass away.. The Other Option is to find a Current Gaggia Colour..
If I get time next week Ill hook the seperate under bench pump up to power and water and test it..
I will also get off my arse and take some pics with the Nikon and post them..
