Because top rubber easily removed I line my Bang Bang so as to empty it easily rather than wash. No problem with corrosion like that.

The Sunbeams do actually corrode over a few years on the inside so as
alternative go straight to the top of the class and buy the stainless one from talk coffee or bombora

Talk Coffee — Deluxe Stainless Steel Knock Tube

i have one of these and relegated the Sunbeam to backup status they are great.

Although the top rubber kept coming loose so i have siliconed it in place and its much better now

Not only is the Bang Bang still around but if you have Commonwealth Bank awards you can use your points to pay for anything in Myer. Just bought mine without forking out cash. Yippee.

So the old PVC pipe knock box didnt make it into the packing of gear when we moved (stupidly i cleaned it and put it outside in the sun to dry quickly) so i was thinking of getting a Sunbeam Bang Bang as all my tools are packed away for now.

Before i go hunting around, can anyone tell me if they have seen them in Melbourne, and if so, where?

    In stock in Myers $29.95
These are the best if you have space. quiet, solid and hold a tonne of pucks. Thats a fantastic price. rrp was well around $50 last time I looked.

I was searching for the Bang Bang a couple of weeks back, but also had some trouble locating it.
I think however, that Myer may stock it?
The Bang Bangs are back in production again,..i got mine just before Xmas at Radio Rentals for $35.00, they had about 6 in stock. "STREWTH" they are one solid piece of kit.

No, vaguely serious. Im all for WAF, but im also all for good design (like who thought of putting red leather on the Silvia...).

It seems to me that some companies make things needlessly complex so they can charge more $$$ for them.

What are the advantages of something like the Grindenstein?
Someone has gone to the trouble of making it for you, so you dont need to source materials and tools to make it.

It has a silicon footing so doesnt move on the benchtop and doesnt damage the benchtop.
It has been designed for the purpose, the bar doesnt damage the group handle.
    It is dishwasher safe
It is aesthetically pleasing, something your plumbers pipe and broom handle may not be. WAF is very important and your version wouldnt make the cut.

but I am sure you were just being facetious :

Maybe im just not trendy enough, but its a pretty simple effort to make your own knock box with some 5-6" pipe and a chunk of broom handle. Infact ive made a few out of plumbing downpipe which you can shape nicely with a heat gun too..

What are the advantages of something like the Grindenstein?

They are still listed on the Sunbeam website.

My Bang Bang has just been replaced by a Coffees Been, a red one

I broken the dowl in the middle of the Bang Bang and I was going to get my brother a pressy so I get the new one he gets the old one.

Plus the Coffees Been has a tad smaller foot print and I have limited bench space.

OH...How could they have improved it...A few minor issues as to the bar and the rubber seal but a great product..
they may have improved the profitability of it... smaller unit, cheaper materials etc... just cos its new doesnt automaticaly make it an improvement!

Well see I need a knock box :-/
