  • What to do with an old Sunbeam EM4800?

Hi al - apologies if this has been raised and answered elsewhere - I did several searches but nothing turned up.
Today I took delivery of my new 2009 Rancilio Miss Silvia which Im very exciting about and am already practicing making better coffee with  ;D. However Im unsure what I can do to dispose of my old Sunbeam EM4800 machine (aside from throwing it in the bin)  :-??
The EM4800 is still in reasonable working order but has a few small issues that would require attention by someone with the patience to get it going properly. (It seems to leak water with the coffee and I have replaced the seal to try and fix this with no luck).
Is there perhaps anyone out there looking for a machine free to a good home for use as parts? Or is there someone out there who refurbishes and resells these machines? Or should I bite the bullet and throw the machine in the bin?

Gday YB and welcome to CS.
If youre going to get rid of your old machine, you might consider putting into the pay if forward thread, here:

    All the best,

I have one already, but to answer a tech question for whoever gets the machine, the fault is most likely with the portafilter retainer thingy.
It develops a crack which opens up when the basket pressurizes and the seal leaks.
      $33 from a sunbeam repairer.

Hey, if youre thinking of junking your machine, maybe I can use the power supply board from it? I have an EM5800 which has blown the relay on that board [see http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1253023418...]

Please PM me if thats something youd consider...

Can I say that many a Queensland angler / boat owner may want a spare anchor   :P
