  • Em6910 Fuse Location?

    Hi,

My Em6910 keeps blowing its fuse which causes it to fail to start. Instead of me taking it to the service centre every time can someone tell me where it is located? Ive got the circuit diagrams but Im still struggling to see where the fuse is.

    Cheers

If the fuse is failing (Which fuse) ...

Either the wrong one is being used or YOU have a problem.. as the fuses are not user changeable and their is the main line fuse and a couple of Thermal OVERLOAD fuses; that have to be replaced with care or the will cause issues.

    Dont do it...

Another person (16 year old) died yesterday in QLD. 240V KILLS.

    Where are you located ?

Fixing teh symptom is not the right approach...

It is about finding the cause and implementing a true solution..

If the Agent has replaced / repaired once they should not do again with out investigation... That is if they are aware and or half decent at their job...

OK cheers. Im quite capable around electricity but havent had to deal with thermal fuses in the past. I was thinking it was a standard inline fuse that blew but maybe it is the thermal fuse. All i know is that I got charged $8 for it when it last went about 2 months ago.
Where abouts is the main line fuse because a $8 fuse doesnt sounds like a sunbeam specific part ?

      Cheers

If ya not licensed as a Full or restricted Electrical worker..  You should not attempt..

Depending on mark up $8 could be the in-line fuse... A special high rupture mini type with solder tags that is on the main board.

Not user replaceable thus Licensed persons only...

The issue with the thermal fuses is that they get hot and thus poor connectors will cause problems and Solder is not suitable..

As I stated previously...  Fuses are to protect from FAULT condition/s..  If they fail and fail again... Then you have a problem that could cause personal or equipment damage.. Or even a fire..

Have the unit looked at properly by a Qualified person.....

        Where are you located...

Im in Adelaide. I was very disapointed with the previous serice on the machine. It took close to 2 months to replace a fuse...hence my hesitation to take it back.

I would suggest that some of that time would be to obtain the special fuse... As teh thermal ones are available off the shelf.

I am assuming you getting NO power on at all ?

Thus while assuming Fuse... It could be a bigger problem..

You say "KEEPS"so how many times in total ?

Greg W is around you area and I know that there are some CSs around that can perform some repairs..

The other issue here is that it is not easy to get at... And WHAT is causing it to fail..

1: If you paid postage.. I could fix in a couple of min... But could not warranty for how long with out some further time and effort...

2: Only turn the unit on when in use.. Do not leave on all the time - even at the wall..

3: It could be a fluid leak ? Thus after sitting for a while the water dry s up and no one can find it...

4: The unit is a pain to get into... to do a proper job...

I would call SB and mention that it has been in previously etc... Same issue and that you concerned about Electrical Safety..

May get a better response... But it does depend on you service centre...
