  • Tamping block.

This is the block I mentioned in another thread, use it for a few different purposes.
Keeps the PF level and stable on the bench while tamping.
Serves as a level rest for PF with tamped shot if I need to walk away for any reason.
Store my second PF in it on the shelf, saves space and keeps things tidy.

Mate thats a great set up & I like the tamper block

I have been meaning to make a wooden group handle tamping block for over a year

    When I get time  :

I have some industrial rubberised cork strips
Just need to glue/laminate and I am on my way

Thanks KK, made the shelf up myself as well, like all projects like this when finished and in use you can see how it could have been improved, but I aint gonna make another one, it serves its purpose.

Any chance of some photos without the group handle in place?

you know, so we can copy it

                      Crikey Jon,

I reckon I might be able to make one of those

What size is the hole? Is it just big enough for the "wings" on the group handle to sit on the top? Is that what is supporting the group handle or is it in combination with the bit of wood in the 2nd layer?

How thick are the two pieces of timber on the top two layers?

                      oh and thankyou 8-)
