Does the Ikon have a 3-way valve? I didnt think it did, and in that case, back-flushing wouldnt be good for it.
The best way to clean the screen on pretty much all of the Brevilles and Sunbeams is just to unscrew the screen and pop it off and give it a clean however you want. This also lets you check the condition of the group seal and and leaves more clearance to clean the sides of the group where grounds often get stuck on these machines...
The main thing is to make sure you use a screwdriver that fits properly so you dont strip the screw head - I find flipping the machine upside-down means I can get a more constant pressure which helps as well.
+1 no 3 way valve so no use for a blank basket If you havnt got one yet then a grouphead brush will help lots and drop the screen in a bit of cafetto once a month (weekly if you are that sort of person ) works for me at home.
