  • backflushing with rubber disk, better single or double basket?

Happy New Year to all forum members

I own an E61 expobar, the rubber disk can work fine with both the baskets however I guess using the double one may be better as more water will flow throught the 3 way valve but, on the other hand, it takes longer to build up the pressure

I bakflush with baking soda every second day and make 3 to 4 cups a day, Never backflush with chemical cleaners

    your opinion?

I backflush with Caffetto EVO weekly.

I dont know what effect baking soda will have as a flusher and also worry that youre doing it so often.

Where did you get the idea to use baking soda?

the idea of backing soda comes from the owner of a coffee shop I used to go before getting my machine in place

I also found some good stuff supporting it on the net

another good point is that its not harmfull so I can avoid plain water backflushing and its not aggressive to the crome plating of the group either

of course its not as effective as Caffetto or Cafiza, but if used with a shorter interval can do the job

Baking soda is often used for its chemical ability as a cleaning agent but also for its mild abrasive properties. I am not sure how well it would remove the stubborn coffee oils and debris, and since no espresso machine manufacturer has recommended this I wonder just how effective it is....

I do a chemical backflush about once every two to four weeks, and a clean water flush after every session. FWIW... I try to minimize the amount of strong cleaners I put through my E-61 as it washes out the lubrication in the group.
