thanks for the kind words CJ.

Theres trhe rub....personally I would rather drink the coffee from the Idea than the other thing, but the "other thing" has "convenience" as well as a hollywood actor written all over it to give it image and cred.

Enjoyment of coffee is an individual sport

    A.

Your budget will not start until say around $9,000.00 and can go to somewhere approaching $20,000.00 depending on the model and individual spec you require.
Thanks Attilio, that really puts things into perspective. There is no easy answer when it comes to quality office coffee at an affordable price.

I am convinced the best option for most would be a quality grinder and a couple of commercial drip brewers.

Unfortunately its a real latte culture we have and everyone wants the frothy milk. They try to do it on a budget and things usually end poorly.

I just started a new job and in my first week discovered a near-new Saeco Idea, which is a $6K superauto. They bought it outright last year and its now sitting in a store room unused. Its been replaced with a Nespresso machine.

    Blokes,

Saeco office coffee machines and any other similar domestic sized machines of competing brand names except maybe a Jura X9, will be totally inadequate for the situation described.

The only way around that, if the school or P & F or whoever does not want to get into a real sized coffee machine and the expense required, is for the school to just get someone to truck in a vending machine. They will get a choice of real coffee beans or instant, but there wont be a choice on real milk it will be powdered.

What will happen then, is the punters wil use the machine less and less over a period of weeks until the supplier decides there isnt enough money in it for him to leave the machine in that location.

It always happens, as soon as you put a coin mech onto the machine especially when its only a vender with powdered milk and the machine is owned and the money cleared, by an unrelated thord party off site.

If they want a quality product and a good reliable piece of equipment adequate to the task, there arent too many choices except to bite the bullet and buy a machine where the social club benefits from all the money going into the machine (instead of most of it going to the machine owner where the owner is not the school or social club).

Yes it needs to be discussed with people that specialise...

    Hope that helps.

Would be worth having a chat to Coffee Craft since theyre local.

They advertise to supply and support the machine while charging $2 per coffee as long as you sell 10 (or maybe 15) cups per day and have someone willing to empty the drip tray daily.

Looks like they sell a range of the Saeco machines as well.

I have no idea what the coffee out of them is like though.

The machines in the higher price bracket will make very good coffee and textured milk, to a point where if you did a blind tasting it would be debateable if you could tell the difference from the auto machine to a conventional machine. Notwithstanding, it will ofcourse depend on the expertise of the person doing the set up.

A machine in the higher price bracket will also be quite reliable and easier to work on, and will have a very long service life.

Realistically, for the situation you describe around $14,000.00 should pull it up for you.

If you would like some help please do not hesitate to contact off forum at contact@cosmorexcoffee.com.au or 02 / 6280 7511 and ask for Daniel.

Equipment can ofcourse be leased / rented etc.

I am no expert but I am pretty sure Saeco make this type of machine.

A quick Google search should yield some results.

    Good Luck!

    Office machine required. Ideas?

    Hi,

Looking for a decent fully auto machine that can be used at a school in the teachers staffroom. Expect about 60 people at recess time to use and ad-hoc usage throughout the day.

Must be easy to use and maintain, have a cost control feature (coin/swipe card etc) and allow the opportunity for free use at controlled times.

Above all, it should make good coffee

    Any ideas or recommendations?
