    Re: Diadema machines?

You might try contacting the Bean Alliance (Monte Coffee) in Melb on 94745555. I have a friend who got one (a junior) from them and I believe that they have new stock either in, (a new model?) or coming. I can confirm that the Junior produces excellent espresso and steam capacity is more than adequate. I have used it regularly. They are an excellent machine and look good also. She has had no problems in 18 months and the machine is used every day 10+ coffees. Worth having a shop around though- Id reckon it should be pretty easy to knock a couple of hundred off RRP on pretty much anything in that price bracket.

FYI- I just upgraded from my Silvia- and ended up with an ECM Giotto Premium which is also in the same price range. My decision was based on design (It looks sooooo good :-D) and Coffeegeek reviews. Coffee Exchange? (Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre, Richmond) is negotiable on price and has a number of machines on display including Grimac, Isomac, La Scala butterfly et al. Trevor runs the business....Hope this helps!

    Chris

    Re: Diadema machines?

    Hi Slowpod

re your post advising that the Grimac machine is the same as the Diadema Junior...Afraid I must respectfully advise this is not so.

The BFC company (manufacturer of Diadema Junior / La Valentina / Art di Vittoria / etc) used to manufacture the Grimac machines however the two companies severed their ties some time ago.

Take a close look, I think you will find that the price difference between the Diadema / Junior / Art di Vittoria, and Grimac machines is justified. These machines have come a long way since then.

Look at standard of build, quality of brew, and if you are interested in the milk side of things, check out the steam pipe arrangement and capacity thereof.

There are others that look similar to the Junior from a distance, but when you get up close the standard of build of the Junior is far superior, and it is far superior in the reliability stakes as well.

If you are serious about buying, take great care with your comparisons....you might pay a little more to get the best, but look at the life expectancy of the machine...it will be with you for a very long time, long after the price has been forgotten.

    Cheers,
    FC.

    Moy
Read your enquiry about the Diadema. I have had some involvement with espresso equipment for some time. Also used a Giotto Classic and Premium for past two years.
I have a Diadema Junior (lever), plus a Giotto, on the bench at the moment. First impressions of the Junior is that it appears extremely well made. Only made a few espressos so far, it makes a serious espresso. Love the full chasis, Steam capabilities seem more than adequate. I intend to give it a real bash over the coming weeks.
Previous posts are correct, it is the same machine as La Val just a different name plate.

arent they all the same machine except with different labels?  Mine has a BFC junior label on it.
Sorry, I should have been clearer in what I said about Thomas machine. It is not BADGED a La Valentina or Diadema, but its basically a badge difference only, theyre pretty much the same under the hood. (Now I understand why you asked on MSN Thomas....)

if youre at Melbourne, should check out Grinders Coffee, from recollection they have a Grimac Junior, which is the same machine, also think it might be a little cheaper than you were quoted.

    Re: Diadema machines?

from Memory, Thomas does not have an actual "La Val" or "Diadema", his is badged Vittoria De Arte, or BFC Junior, or possibly both.  He bought it second hand.

They are all pretty much the same, with minor differences in the cosmetics (ie externals).  As its the internals that make a difference to the coffee, you can assume theyre pretty much the same. From when I was looking, the differences were that the base model was pushbutton operated (but also may not be imported anymore?), the PLUS model replaced the plastic switches with metal toggle switch operated,  and the LEVER was lever operated (well of course...!). Splendour is the same mechanically as the lever, but in a completely different body.

[QUOTE=warren Heres a good site written by a La Valentina (Diadema ??) machine. [/QUOTE]

Wow, espresso machines have advanced a long way, not only does it make a nice brew it can even write a review of itself!

Ill have to consider upgrading Silvia, the only intelligence she seems capable of is to burn me when I dont pay her enough attention. Then again maybe she is smarter than I thought.

    started a topic Diadema machines?

    Diadema machines?

Hello all. I am contemplating an upgrade and a search has given me to a link to Cosmorex - a company in Canberra that sells Diadema machines. There are several models such as the Junior $2300, Junior Lever $2450 and Splendor for $2550.

Has anyone used these machines or have any experience with them? This company also offers lay-by for up to 15months! So i am seriously considering it.

Lastly, a picture of the Junior looks very similar to the La Valentina as shown on wholelattelove webisite.

    cheers.
Working...
