Re: Kitchen Aid KPES100 anyone?
Ive just bought one.
Fantastic. Being able to brew and froth at the same time is fantastic and - the ultimate test - the coffee is great, much, much better than the cheap breville thermo block I used to have.
I dont care what any body says - thermoblock technology can never be as good as boilers and dual boilers have always got to be better than one.
The brew head is heavy duty and hold the heat great whilst filling.
They are pricy but at the end of the day I am happy with my little indulgence.
I agree about the froth enhancer - its a shame :-/ because they really didnt need to add it at all - the milk gets to frothy for my liking and I usually turn the steam down to finish off.
I say go for it.

Re: Kitchen Aid KPES100 anyone?
If youre going to go for a machine designed to appeal to someone who only wants to buy their machine from David Jones or Myer, Ive heard good things about the Sunbeam dual thermoblock, which is half the price.
No machine with a panarello (froth aider) steam wand qualifies as "semi-professional" in my books ;P
If the machine is just two small single boilers with standard gaggia/silvia type thermostats and the grouphead is not actively heated it is a total ripoff. A cheap expobar will be much better.
Cheers,
Luca

Re: Kitchen Aid KPES100 anyone?
Hi:
If you are looking for semi-pro gear then this would be a waste of time.
If you are looking for an appliance that can make a half reasonable espresso and doesnt cost too much then it might be OK.
