Hmm- if that doesnt bring it to life, I reckon its either electrical (unlikely) or boiler (exxy $$$)

      Re: I killed my Silvia

Im wondering why it would, its never left online unused for long periods, religiously topped with water, and I treat it better then I treat myself!
Well looks like no good coffee again till I can drive over to Bondi to take back to DiBs. I think its only close to a month old.. New version too..
This is going to be a long slow painful rehab.
Whatabout the continuity thing Mr Mach mentioned Chris?

thanks for replying guys to really appreciate it

        OPERATION complete...! thanx 2mcm.
ill just point out, even though it is obvious once you have a good look.
That is NOT the red button on the top thermostat you can see in the photo (not that 2mcm said it was). The actual button is (as 2mcm mentioned) on the FRONT thermostat, under the terminal connector with the black wire.
Just thought id point this out for anyone that is a little technically challenged like me.

        Sullo,

Before giving up, please check this response from KoNg.
I had a Silvia previously and had to do this reset thing once. I had to re-read this post (and look at the pic) a few times before I actually got the reset button. There is anotehr little red nub in there (from memory) which was the first thing I was aiming for and it was not the reset switch.

Apologies if you have already done this, but just in case...

Yep, thats the reset.... well the same as the one in the link on the thread I posted.

Mmmm pushed it real hard? Because if thats not the problem looks like the boiler has died as Chris said

well I cant understand what Ive done to blow the boiler, Im religious on this thing, today was first day anyone else was allowed to touch it and if Im going to be up for a new boiler then its a big case of not happy jan.
is the diff between new and old version anything to do with boiler or just the drip tray?

and yep did a few times different pressure , last one was good as you suggested

                        Re: I killed my Silvia

Miss Silvia missed your TLC and decided to throw in the towel.

As far as Im aware there are no changes to the boiler between yours and the earlier model. Yours just has an adjustable OPV and a few cosmetic changes... and takes PODS. :P :P

Good luck... I hope its something simple (and cheap to fix).

                            Sullo,

To help the gurus here can you let them know if all others functions work ok. i.e can you still run water thru the group and the steam wand, just not hot water?

If the element is blown I believe there is a continuity check that can be done (with it unplugged). I remember a post about it a while back where you check the resistance across the element. High/infinite resistance means blown element.
anyone know how to do this and what points, Im a technician of sorts and have DMM at hand..

                            help me obi wan kenobi!

I think you put the DMM on both the + and - on the element? or the wire leading to it not quite sure.

                                Sullo,

WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED FROM THE POWER!!!

there are two ceramic insulators at the top of the boiler (with connectors attached).... these are the ends of the element.

Place your DMM on a low ohms range and measure between these two ends....

Post the value of resistance you measure.
