    Just like a real shop.

(Except for the magnets on the fridge and the kids paintings.)

Yep, its the little things (and people) that make a house a home.

...not to mention the smell of freshly brewed coffee as you walk in the door...

(Actually, as I am the only one who makes it; I have to brew the coffee, then step outside, take a few deep breaths to clear my lungs, then step inside to get the smell of freshly brewed coffee as I walk in the door!!!  ;D)

I dont even have to turn on the coffee machine. Ive got people who buy coffee from me, and all I have to do is grind up their orders. The house smells like coffee for hours.

Very nice, looks even better with an open plan kitchen.

Yeah, much better than the decor in most shops..... Excepting those premises run by genuine coffee snobs and sponsors of course ;D

Re: What Coffee Equipment do you all have - Part 2

            Hi coffee snobs,

            I got twin babies!

            Gaggia Baby
            - old model (1980s?) with enamelled steel case and boiler with internal element
            - upgraded with commercial brass shower head and s/steel shower screen

            Gaggia Baby
            - newer model (1996) with plastic case
            - on loan to my brother because the coffee isnt as good as with the old model - haha!

            Gaggia MDF grinder
Illy pod adapter (should I admit to that?)
            Custom machined alloy tamp
            A couple of Bodum plungers
2 manual drip filter thingys (sit on top of cup)
Half a dozen moka pots (including a Bialetti Brikka with the crema enhancing thingy - what a joke!)
1 SwissGold One Cup Coffee Brewer
1 Whirley-Pop 6 Quart stovetop popper from Sweet Marias
2 burnt out modified poppers :-[

All used to make mainly decaf these days. Strange what you can get used to.

              Hi Fellow CSs

I have the following in my line up

1 6 cup stove top espresso pot
1 6 cup sunbeam electric espresso pot
              1 medium bodum plunger
1 10 cup sunbeam drip machine
              1 Braun coffee grinder

but they all become meaningless against the following
              ECM Giotto Premium
              Pullman Tamper
              Sunbeam Bang Bang (Knock Box)
stainless steel jugs (small and large)

Hope to have a new grinder in the next month or so, funds are being sourced from the treasury. :

Nothing beats the a shot of fresh coffee in the morning.

                Double charcoal filtered water
                feeding a 1974 Olympia Cremina
which is stoked by a Zassenhaus
(since I sold my Gino Rossi CC45)
All surrounded by S/S jug, thermometer,
digital scale and custom Greg Pullman tamper

And this week Im starting home roasting,
                probably with a BM/HG set-up

And the other usual suspects:Bodum plunger,
one cup dripolator, Braun swill-o-matic (for North American
                house guests)

And a beautiful set of Cauldon cups-a gift from a now deceased friend.

Hello Coffee Snobs, what better way to rack up my first post than to tell you what gear I have.
Currently I have a Gaggia Syncrony which I thought was a good machine.
It is a good machine, dont get me wrong BUT the more I looked into this magic of coffee making the more I realised that being a machine that is semi automatic (ie push the button and it grinds, loads and pours) the more I realised how little control I had over the finished product.
So the next machine is in the pipe line, it is looking like it will be a Faema E98. Anyone have any experience with this machine?
I also know that I will need a good grinder and hoping that some more time spent here will point me in the right direction.

                        Welcome to CoffeeSnobs Modi [smiley=thumbsup.gif],

Glad to have you on board . As CS has said, there will be no shortage of opinions about what constitutes the ideal hardware combination... thats half the enjoyment I guess ;D.

Id recommend that you contact one of the Site Sponsors who may be in your area, or failing that, a specialist coffee hardware vendor who has a good reputation and with whom you feel comfortable. Explain your requirements, budget and anything else that may be relevant and Im sure you will come away with something that you will be extremely happy with. Dont get me wrong, that Faema looks like a terrific machine but there are lots of options around these days and it will be better for you in the long run to try and consider as many as is reasonable. Our sponsors are absolute professionals with a wealth of specialist industry knowledge and experience.... be a shame to not take advantage of that .

All the best Modi and catch you on the boards soon,

                        Cheerio,
                        Mal.

                          Hi Modi,

Ive only heard good things about most Faema commercial machines. So if its in the pipe, fear not. The machine wont be the weak point in the chain.

                          Cheers,

                          Mark.

Thanks for the welcome folks. Been spending a lot of time looking around the forum, getting my head around the terms and tech stuff.
I normally spend my time online at another forum DSLRusers which is a digital photography site. There are a couple of guys/gals there who are both coffee and camera lovers. (two expensive hobbies!!!) We are currently running a competiation for the best photo taken in a coffee house!
One of the members is the publisher of Crema Magazine and he will publish the winning picture in his magazine.
So it is nice to invlove two passions
                            Cheers

Re: What Coffee Equipment do you all have - Part 2

Hello! I have a la cimbali M30 dt1 totally rebuild with the parts of a m32 and parts of the m51 dolcevita. (solid-state relays for heating). Also I have
A la cimbali junior (gold), cimbali 6s special coffee grinder, cadet inox, coffee grinder, a atomic stovetop machine, 2 solis master top and 2 schaerer opals.
about the last 4 machines I have a question, are they known in australia?

I worked 10 years in Holland as A mechanic for La Cimbali, schaerer and solis.
I know cimbali is known in Australia, but I can not find anything about solis and schaerer on e-bay au.
I want to know this because I am going to move to Australia very soon.
                              Thanks for you attention.
                              Tony

                                Schaerer,

                                Welcome to CoffeeSnobs...

Ah La Cimbali are great machines....(but Im biased).

Schaerer Opal and Siena are available here (but I had never heard of them before I checked so I suspect they are rare). Solis is better known - but only for their SL70 / SL90, their super autos (including the master top) and their 166 grinder - they are not a "big" brand here.

Both machines have an importer/agent in Australia - therefore availability of spares etc.

But I still prefer my La Cimbali

                                Hope that helps.
