    Re: Krups Quality??

Ive made the unfortunate mistake of buying a super auto (Saeco Magic Comfort) . Im kicking myself now. Too bad I didnt come across this forum 4 months earlier.

At that time I did not really understand the differences in the machines. After playing around with my machine I have found that you can fiddle with some things, but there are not enough adjustments for my liking. If I had known this before I would not have bought it.

Using my own freshly roasted beans with the machine on its finest grind I can get a passable cup of coffee.

Even though I know coffee can be better it still beats instant or the plunger (and many a cafe).

      Thanks everyone for your input.
Just with reference to Matt Kings comment, re:

"I think it would be a fair guess to say that the reason you (and others) want a superauto is that you have no understanding of the process of making espresso coffee drinks, and therefore assume that the process is either hard to learn or hard to do - or maybe all the new terminology is completely confusing - and you think that an auto machine will bypass that pain... "

I do know how to make a coffee out of the traditional style machines, as I used to work in a cafe for a number of years, and im up on the current technology speak of the auto machines available. I guess what i was really after was what peoples thoughts were on the automatic machines for making a coffee. Absolutely unanimous in saying that they dont do the job theyre intended to do, very well! I might have to consider going to a manual machine, as seen in most cafes? Im just a lazy so and so, and the thought of making 10 cups of coffee for people and spending half an hour doing so, just turns me off. But I do love my coffee - almost too much - those 6 cups i have (down from about 10), keep my blood pumping through my veins! Thanks everyone for your input. Ill go to a proper coffee house (such as Merlo in the Valley, Brisbane), and see what theyve got on offer.

Hey CJ, if you want to see some real machines then Id suggest going to *reference to non-sponsor competitor removed by mods  >* as well as others so you can compare to ***** offerings of mainly automatics.
Make sure you check with the  site sponsors for a good price, unfortunately in Bris we dont get the back-up and service the others have available to them as none of the sponsors are here
When you decide to buy the Giotto or similar (and you will!) theres a place in Ashgrove called "Kokoda Coffee" hes the man when it comes to beans in Bris (although I unfortunately havent weened my better half off Di Bella yet, I keep the Kokoda stuff for myself during the day) or the sponsors also ship beans to ya!
          good luck

New members are requested not to refer to companies which sell equipment provided by CS sponsors...Remember that the sponsors pay the bills which allow this forum to exist

How about Barazi or GoBarista? Most other sponsors- including myself supply QLD with pleasure....

Tried Dibella a number of times. If you are caught short on home roast, then you cannot beat Merlo private blend in the Valley.

Fair call, I didnt know they were Brisbane based, only saw a mobile number initially not an address. perhaps a constructive reply to CJ would have been exactly this answer? BTW, my Silvia was purchased off a CS member and my grinder off a sponsor, my next purchase (Giotto or Expobar) is likely to be off one of the Brisbane sponsors now I know theyre here, I was not intending to send someone elsewhere, just helping out with where he could view one thats all.

If you want to buy a machine for convenience, I recommend the Nespresso system. I own a Sunbeam 6900 for when I want a real good coffee hit, but i use my new Delonghi NE90 Nespresso machine which also came with a Nespresso Milk frother, the "Aeroccino" whan I cant be bothered making the "Real thing". My first coffee machine was an Nespresso machine about 6 years ago, and they make a good cup of coffee. But of course with this system, you can only use Nespresso Capsules sold from the Nespresso Club, so if you run out of capsules, its a few days wiat for them to arrive in the mail, and they arent the cheapest way to drink coffe. But I love the stuff, especially their Arpegio and Ristretto blends. The Coffee snobs here will say "no way" to the Nespresso system, but if you want the convenience of an auto, but with a way better cup of coffee, go Nespresso.

Ok Skamp- You must just sell nespresso then ;D...for those interested in the concept, lets assume 7g per pod- theyre about 50c each? 142 pods per kilo at roughly 50c each = $70 per kilo.....and its fresh too- just like you roasted it yourself! What a bargain!

Members, please form an orderly queue behind the barrier for purchases..... ;D
