I guess in packed onto a pallet in a container on a ship they didnt have much of a chance to be mishandled. I recently had a delivery by a courier van and I met the driver out the front,. When he was looking for my package (or should I say freeing up room to remove it) he was literally just throwing the smaller boxes to the other side of the near empty van - many of them were around the same size as the NP cup boxes... I said I hoped they werent too fragile and he just shrugged his shoulders and said not my problem

Moral of the story: pack everything really well! I know I will after seeing that!

Pack boxes, stack on pallet, move with forklift, road freight to docks, another forklift, containerise, load on ship, rough seas, unload form ship, use forklift again, courier to sylvania, manhandle to storeroom, re-wrap, deliver to post office.

All the above are opportunities for breakages.

Hand to AU Post - broken along the way.

Moral of the story: Use a different postage system in future.

Well Dennis,

I finally picked them up yesterday from Chris (thankyou!!!) and used them last night for our dinner guests and they were a huge hit.

Lovely to drink from, used both the caps and the espressos and they each got rave reviews. Mind you that was probably because they were drinking my favourite beans that had been expertly roasted.

So, thanks again for your enterprise, persistence and generosity, all very much appreciated.

Well, this part of my lifes journey is almost at a close as I wait for 4 people to provide their addresses so that their cups can be enjoyed.

I managed to hang on to 4 of the tulip cups for myself and there remains just 18 of the brown cappuccino cups that I will give to family and friends.

I think I managed to only lose $300 to $400, (mainly in postage) but really too afraid to do the sums. Then again I was never in it to make money. Though I do hope that my loss becomes Faircracks gain. Like many individuals here, I get pleasure out of doing things for others and the excitement of doing something new, interesting and challenging. Collectively, as forum members, I think we share these traits.

A few people have asked if knowing what I know now, if I would still have done this, and despite the shortage in delivery of the tulips, my resounding response has been "yes". I must admit that AU Posts handling of what I consider such precious cargo has been very disappointing to me. But then, this has been far outweighed by your support, encouragement, trust, generosity, and friendship, expressed not only to me but other community members too.

I met an importer of the ACF cups in town the other day. Byron Bay is a small place.

He regaled me with nightmarish stories of import woes.

I can organise an order if anyone is keen.

In consultation with Dennis, the decision has been made that this thread is no longer really a for sale post; more a general item. So, from here onwards, it resigns with general brewing equipment ;-)

What kind of price are we talking? :P can never have too many cups! The sell them on a NZ website but the shipping ends up making each set cost $90-$100... not worth it imo.
