Hi,
I just purchased a bottomless portafilter and it came with a triple basket and I just had a question. Ive heard of a fair number of people using the double or triple baskets with bottomless portafilters and obviously the liquid would all go into one cup as there are no spouts. If I use a double basket, should I be grinding finer to get the same amount of liquid that would normally go into one cup or am I supposed to let double the amount go into one cup? Thanks.
Cheers,
Tim

. If you use a double basket and pull 50ml then youll simply get two cups worth of strong complex espresso; if you use the same volume of ground coffee but only pull 20ml, or even 10ml, then youll obviously get a less strong drink but what you do get will taste quite different to the 50ml profile - you can only decide which flavour profile you prefer. If you use a bottomless PF and want to make two cups, I pull the shot into a measuring shot glass and pour it evenly between the two cups; not ideal in terms of temperature retention and it can be a bit messy but it works.
