Recently upgraded from a Silvia to Isomac Mondiale. Magic machine but I am disappointed with the steam output. My Silvia, equiped with a 3-hole steam wand tip, produced the same, if not better steam pressure. In other words, I could do a credible job with a 600ml jug, even a 1L jug. The Mondiale definitely struggles with the 1L jug. Any opinions out there?

Re: Steam Output
I used an isomac millenium (also small hx) for a while and compared to my botticelli (larger silvia) the steam was poor. I suppose the advantage is dry steam on demand.
You can try tweaking the boiler pressure via pressurestat to 1.3 bars and then maybe a steam tip with larger holes?
Brett
and yes a couple of 600ml jugs is a good idea

Re: Steam Output
Thanks for the very useful tips. The idea of tweaking the boiler pressure interests me. I havent opened the machine yet to see where the pressure stat is located. Any ideas? I wouldnt want to tweak something thats going to make the machine think its a little engine that can....

Re: Steam Output
There is nothing wrong with the steam output of that machine if all is working as intended, however the manufacturer seems to have fallen down on the job when specifying the type of steam tip/nozzle fitted.
A much better steam tip/nozzle is available from my company.
Please do not fiddle with the boiler pressure as it is set where it is set for a reason. Every action has a reaction and if you raise the boiiler pressure to try and get more steam, it will affect other workings of the machine.
The correct way of adjusting the steam delivery is to replace the tip as above.

FC.

Re: Steam Output
Good point and I should have mentioned it- the Millenium I used had a small conical 2 hole steam tip. In fact I liked it better than the larger 2 hole cylindrical one of the botticelli as the botticellis, until you get used to the amount of steam can be overwhelming.Originally posted by Fresh_Coffee link=1161773097/0#4 date=1161837518There is nothing wrong with the steam output of that machine if all is working as intended, however the manufacturer seems to have fallen down on the job when specifying the type of steam tip/nozzle fitted.

Have a look at the top tip on this page:
http://www.coffeeparts.com/accessories/steamtips.html
because it is the same as the Isomac Millenium one. They are great for microfoam in small quantities (Pedro at coffeeparts says up to 600ml), but one with larger holes will allow much more steam (but harder to make microfoam until you are used to it).
Looking at the specs for the Mondiale, it has a large boiler at 2.2 l and should have plenty of pressure (the Millenium has a 1.4l one), so FCs comment is on the mark- I should have checked specs first!
