Mark, I really need to make sure that we get some spare 4-hole BFC/Dalla Corte tips - point and shoot, as far as microfoam is concerned.

    Cheers,

    Luca

Hi Brett. I think youve got a great setup. That manual 2 group Bezzera is as rare as hens teeth and probably one of the best Bezzera machines out there, given that you have control of pre-infusion. What a score!

Yeah I have a few tips as well, including the Gold Pro 2 hole tip from the US, a diadema 2 hole tip, the Bezzera 4 hole tip and the 3 hole tip. Gold Pro 2 was the worst as it was way too slow. The Diadema (probably the same as the ECM Botticelli tip) was like training wheels and did a reasonable job. The 4 hole tip is really fast, which is great once you get used to it, but the steam comes out in all directions and I find it hard to get a whirlpool going. So I get dud batches with lots of bubbles about 1 in 3 goes. I have yet to get a dud with the 3 hole and its a bout as fast as the 4 hole. The quality of the microfoam is as good as it gets. Im very impressed.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

After I saw one in action, I decided to swap my 4 hole tip for the Bezzera 3 hole tip. Wow, what a difference. The 3 hole tip is almost as fast as the 4 hole tip, but its far easier to use and makes awesome microfoam. The trick seems to be that the holes are all in one plane and so can really swirl the milk with little effort. Getting a good wirlpool action has always been touted as the way to achieve good foam. Well its true.

If anyone is interested, the Bezzera 3 hole tip will fit any standard 10mm male thread (most machines - ECM Giottos are the exception). A tip that fits a male thread means that when you unscrew the tip you can see an external thread on the steam wand and an internal thread on the tip.

If anyone is interested in trying one, contact Chris at Barazi. At around $10, its worth a try.

    Cheers,

    Mark.
Hi Mark I have the bezzera 3 and 4 hole tips as well as ecm 2 hole and coffeeparts conical 2 hole.
Depending on size they all have their place, but I agree- the 3 hole is fantastic and with care can be used with great success even in the 600ml jug. It is much, much easier to use than the 4 hole which can blow you across the room!
