  • better h&g comp

judging by a new listing on an auction site, it looks like none of us won the giotto comp!
good to see it went to a good home. hasnt even opened it.
surely there is a better way for these comps?

    Re: better h&g comp

That is a lot of money to pay someone who hasnt even sold something on the auction site before. Doesnt seem to want to reveal the date of the competition for some reason. A few people have asked when she got it and hasnt answered them yet. If I were looking for one, which I am not, i would go a site sponsor as I am sure with machine and grinder combo you would get a great deal anyway. Certainly with more after sales support.
But you are right what a waste a machine most of us would salivate over and it goes to someone who isnt even a snob. Could be worse she could keep it and just use it to brew stale beans and dallops of cold foam. Or worse to make gravy with   At least this way it will go to a good home and fulfill its true calling in life. Unless of course it is a hoax and someone losses 2 grand.

I think its ok for all CSers to see this one....after all....perhaps we might be able to stop a great machine going to someone who wouldnt appreciate it....

I reckon its the least any coffee lovin member could do...

      I say save the Giotti!

Looks like we were unsuccessful in our attempt to save the Giotto.

          Re: better h&g comp

The listing is one of those that rings "Mucho bello alarmo" with me.

          No feedback
Member since - 4 days ago (but savvy enough to rip a picture of this from somewhere else on the net to use in you very first listing).

Might be genuine, but as another member of the "Bretts on Coffeesnobs" club said above - Its a lot of money to spend with a zero feedback user.

            Brett, I agree... too risky....

If I was the seller (Which I have done in the past), Id list the item at a lower price.... Shes wanting top price for something she never paid for... A bit opportunistic? Id stay away from this one...

              There were 5.

I agree with the others above.

Pretty good listing for a novice.

                Re: better h&g comp

Seems the seller was too heavy on price after all. Quite a few people at least expressed interest and some wanted to haggle. looks as though she has had it for a month as well.

When you get something for nothing, karma can bite you in the butt if you get too greedy on price.

And than it was gone! Although I am a bit suspicous the same day 2mcm posted to say he had a Giotto in his car is the same day it gets relisted and sold???

Sold to a newbie so each to their own I guess. I would rather spend a little bit more and get warranty and after sales service for sure.

I see from the listings Im not the only one to bargain with sellers.

She said it was going to cost her $250 in listing fees and postage therefore she wasnt settling for any less than the $2k asking price.

Sheesh! Only $1750 profit; poor thing!

Well she got what she wanted. Someone paid the "Buy it Now" price of $2000.
