Re: Espro tampers
Love my 58mm flat spro, as it kinda takes tamp out of the grind-dose-distribution-tamp equation. Like many in this post, I got mine from Di Bartoli, who at that point were using it because it offered a repeatable way for all staff, not just Renzo and Ofra (who can both make great shots with a finger/spoon/palm/chopstick/etc). Id say its an ideal tamper for someone at your level.
So im thinking of getting a Pullman or something now I tamp espro-like on each tamp but want a longer handle (long, big hands here). If in doubt, you cant go wrong with flat.

Me thinks they are quite robust.
We arent doing it all day.
I think Di Bartoli and others use all of their tamper range so that there is a demo model lying around for people to play with. Certainly worked for us as my wife got to play with it and saw what I said above. The fact that it still clicked was the deal closer.

Re: Espro tampers
Hi Pauly404,
Looking forward to discussing tampers with you. We have some guidelines about when an Espro is a good idea and convex versus flat. "Fit" is pretty important so wed go over that too. Best done with your filter basket in hand if you can bring it in.
Kind Regards,
charlie

Re: Espro tampers
Thank you Chis for mentioning us, Yes, we have the Espro as well as the new Demaral Tamper that we are playing with at the moment.
Pauly404, you are welcome tocome and play with both tampers and compare which is more suitable for you.
Regards
Renzo

Re: Espro tampers
We have an Espro and we love it. Clicks at 30lb (Canadanian) and therefore helps rule one variable out of the equation, allowing you to adjust the grind to suit.Originally posted by 7A4B5F46531E1A1E2A0 link=1248353124/0#0 date=1248353124I am upgrading my tamper and considering an Espro from Jetblack Espresso.
Any feedbackl on these? Is this the right path to take for a home "barista" of low-medium level skills.
Also, should I get the convex or flat one?
Thanks!

As David Seng has also said in here somewhere, while it gives you a certain regular tamp, it does not eliminate the option of increasing or decreasing the pressure if desired.
Convex or flat Ill leave up to you. We got flat.
