  • Carimalina/Oscar Steam tip?

Currently have this machine and wanting to change the steam tip.

    http://www.carimali.it/interna2.aspx?lingua=EN&id_product=10

It would say its a rebadged Oscar. Does this machine have a removable steam wand tip? Taking a closer look it appears like its all 1 piece as its all chromed ? Thought id ask here before attempting to remove it. If it is removable which way does it unscrew and what is the best tool to use to remove it without damaging it or the wand?

    Cheers

The steam tip on the Oscar is definately removeable. You should be able to see a small break in the chrome where it unscrews. Anti clockwise to undo, clockwise to do up.
The NS part number for a new tip is 73006003
    Cheers

What do you use to unscrew it? Pliers, multigrips?

Also do u use the toothpick trick with the 4 hole steam tip (that i have seen posted/reported on the net) to block the steam holes to increase steam pressure? If so do you block 1 or 2 holes?

NOoooooooooo  Do not use something that will scratch / dent the tip etc..  It will catch crap for ever and looks cheep.

Lots of tricks to undoing tight things...  use proper soft jaws for one..   The best way.

        OR..

1:  Wrap it in lots of masking tape and then grab with ya fingers and try... A few mm and some extra grip often does wonders.  Just ask my wife...

If ya still can not, then vice grips and take it slow...  Adjusting a bit at a time...

2: As per the tip... I would recommend using brass or copper wire.  Rather than match sticks...

Copper is easer to get hold of and  there are plenty of gauges available.  A good electrical shop would give you a 1"off cut of some heavy multi core (of the right size) and you would have enough to do you for your life...

As to who many and which ones... Try it and see what works best for you.
