I can source group handles with teflon coating if anyone is interested. pm me.
Ill keep that in mind for future reference. Cheers.

Not sure how you guys go about it in a cafe environment, but I free run some water through each group into my handles every hour, and by midday I backflush water and scour the insides of my pfs as well as baskets, just to keep them clean. Not only that, but the same at the end of the shift and allowing the pf heads to soak in a small container of water each night. =P

I soak my group handle and baskets once a week. Rinse with plain water daily. They look clean, but not as cool as bright green teflon.
I do the same a ACog, it is part of my ritual lol.

yeah TG - if i pull a really tight shot, therell be heaps of coffee oil on the underside of the basket. being naked means i can see this, i can clean it, and i dont need to worry about stainless or teflon. its just too easy really. life is good.

I use my naked gh every day and with that you can see the staining left on the bottom of the basket.
Hopefully everyone rinses at least daily like ACog.
Otherwise Id hate to think what kind of build up thered be, hidden by a standard gh.

That said, people interested in Teflon might find that they can improve their coffee by simply removing the basket and wiping everything clean every few days.

The stainless LM portafilter is the goods. Spotless after a whole day.

The stainless portafilters seem to be quite good and probably more durable. Still, itd be interesting to try Teflon. That said, people interested in Teflon might find that they can improve their coffee by simply removing the basket and wiping everything clean every few days. Its not much effort. I sometimes spray and wipe with cafetto solution, then flush clean.

    Cheers,

Teflon only becomes an issue above 230 degrees C. I was concerned with roasting coffee in a teflon pan so read a few papers on it.

Using it in a group handle isnt going to be an issue.

I bouht one at LM, havent used it much yet but the few times I did it was spotless after each shot.
Shouldnt have any issues, just dont go scratching it.
There was talk of health issues on coffeed regarding teflon from US based members - I cook and bake with teflon.

    It cost me over $350

    Teflon coated portafilter.

    http://www.coffeehit.co.uk/PRD_ProductDetail.aspx?cid=134&prodid=1007&Product =Bowed-group handle-with-Teflon-Coating

The link says it all, really. First time Ive heard of teflon coating on the inside of a portafilter, is there any downsides to this? Like perhaps maybe wear and tear with teflon ripping into the cup?
Working...
