    Re: Auto recomendation

Get a superauto instead of a pod machine. The whole grind, tamp, steam milk, self cleaning cycle etc... makes it easier to maintain the machine. Unless you are gonna have one person ono site all the time, who will be able to routinely clean the internals.

Source the machines from Singapore (& beans from Aus?). That way youll get a 1 year warranty, with relatively quick transit times when it breaks down (itll suck having to post stuff to & from Australia to Indo). And fresh beans to boot!

    $1.5k disposable?
    Thats a hefty budget.

I suggest asking a few of the site sponsors what theyd recommend.
Im sure theyll be able to help.
yes beauty of being in the oil and gas services market at the moment. lots of projects and limited competitors with spare capacity. my boss had suggested buying two in case one broke down (then we would have spare parts), but thought that was a bit excessive. we need to impress and keep the client happy.

although you tend to 1/2 the effective life of things when you take them up to Batam. humidity and operator error tend to wreck things. sometthing we have to factor in to our overheads. but labour and other costs are cheap up there so you still end up in front.

I had thought you needed to spend around the $1500 mark to get something decent in the fully auto machines.

If I pay the freight on the ones you (possibly) end up getting rid of, would you organise to ship them to me? ;D

    Auto recomendation

    Afternoon all

I was looking for a recommendation for an auto machine for work.

Application is a little specific. The machine will be living in Batam, which is an Indonesian island off Singapore. By way of background, Batam is effectively an industrial/manufacturing island, has cheap operating costs, so a lot of western manufacturing companies operate there. The island is a little primitive (read third worldish) and the machine will be in an office attached to our workshop.

We are getting the machine because we will have some engineers from a client supervising our manufacturing process for a couple of months and they weren’t so keen on the coffee and condensed milk that is on offer. (normally I end up drinking coke for my caffeine hit when I’m there)

So the machine will need to be fairly robust and simple to operate. We have a tea lady there, but the engineers will probably end up operating the machine themselves.

Also we use bottled water, but it is reverse osmosis stuff, will that be a problem?

I doubt there are service agents for any coffee machines in Batam, so it may need to be self serviced or if we are desperate, someone can bring it back on the plane, but it will be a PIA.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

We could go really simple and get a nespresso machine with the foil pods, as that would cut down most of the variables. I haven’t tried the machines though.

no real budget, but have ruled out the $5k Jura machine. so up to $2.5K, but proably around the $1.5K may be better in that way if it breaks down we may just buy another one.

    thanks

    Clint
