Can anyone give me tips with steaming on this machine?

All I seem to get is heaps of micro-smallish bubbles.....not the very smooth and velvet stuff I am very accustomed to. Left a 6 hole tip on one wand and replaced the other with a 4 hole "bullet" tip. Even with the 4 hole bullet tip, Im getting milk that my old Silvia would put to shame any day.

On another note....just got the EM6910

I use a three hole on my commercial only for my 900 ml jug- for the 600ml I use a coffeeparts conical 2 hole which is great for microfoam but not with larger jugs. With the large jug the 3 hole is great. Logically the larger tips for larger jugs.
Feel free to disagree, as Im sure with practise and technique more is possible

dont get me wrong Ive used a few commercial machines before and I know what I can get.....maybe a little technique wont go astray, but I whole heartedly believe its the machine =[

BFC steam wands are awesome...almost totally dry steam, same with san marinos

Expobars and Azkoyens seem to have overly wet steam

          Dont know about that Wushoes,

I think this issue is more to do with how well the vendor from whom you purchase the machine goes about setting up everything and testing before the owner takes delivery, cant imagine Chris, Attilio or any of our other respected sponsors sending out a machine that would perform like this,

          Mal.

Before you take issue with how a vendor sets up and sends out their machines.

Wouldnt it be wise to find out if the particular machine in question is a new machine or is it second hand?

Is it one that this particular cafe owner has inherited as a chattel of the business who the previous owners did not service regularly (if at all)?

Wushoes - if you are having issues with the steaming on this particular machine I am sure the first port of call would be contacting your coffee supplier or your service agent - and see if a simple service call can rectify your problem.

AFAIK Azkoyens and Expobars are generally very good at producing steam for milk texturing.

Ask Luca about Azkoyens. He used one at the old Maltitude. I seem to recall he liked the steaming ability.

Caffeine here in Brisbane used to run an Azkoyen and I recall the microfoam was very good from that machine.

You probably know this, but here goes anyway; steam valves are meant to be either full on or full off, not inbetween. If you use the valve to regulate the steam pressure, youll get cooling at the valve restriction, which can result in wet steam.

                Cheers,

                Mark.

BFC steaming is insane....nice and dry and insane silky smooth microfoam.

Getting better results on it now....2nd day on the vienna.

nah....I still think I can get better results with steam that is a tad drier!
