Re: Brew Gasket Direction
I dont recall exactly which way it goes in a Silvia, however, make sure you have a good look at the one that comes out and put new one in same way, they dont like working properly if in the wrong way.
Also, compare thickness of original gasket and replacement one. It is much easier to put a spacer shim in, before you fit the replacement gasket, if the replacement gasket is thinner than the original, .... I know these things from experience... :-[

Re: Brew Gasket Direction
I am sure a Silvia user will comment (assuming thats what you meant)
However in general, commercial type group heads have a different profile seal
The angle is more noticeable on the rubber
These type of seals are fitted with the angle facing down

Brew Gasket Direction
hey guys and girls,
I recently got a new E61 beast to replace my old silvia. In the process, Im replacing the gasket/\/screens on both.
I went into coffeeparts and picked these up, and the young lad there let me know that the side with the very slight angled edges go in on top or down below (ie facing the group or facing the portafilter). I was sure he said that it faced up as in this crude drawing:

With this in mind thats how I whacked the new one into the e61, and havent noticed any leaking or had any problems. A couple of weeks later Im now getting around to doing silvia.
On taking the gasket out, I noticed that the angles were facing the opposite way to what I had been informed, ie towards the portafilter. Are the e61 and rancilio gaskets to be installed differently?
Cheers
