  • 58mm Quad Shot Basket

Just want to let all members know, the quad shot basket currently available in Beanbay is a perfect fit for (without modification too ) the Gaggia Classic. Bloody marvelous

Just to let you guys know, quad shot technically fits the Silvia double and naked portafilter but doesnt go into the grouphead. Oh well, if anyone wants a quad shot (or can suggest an easy mod)...

The BeanBay 58mm Quad Shot Basket fits the modified portafilter of the Breville Dual Boiler after removal of the plastic insert. It makes great coffee too.

I bought the quad shot basket from beanbay, and comparing to a ridgless synesso triple basket, it seems to be similar capacity to the synesso, maybe even a smidge smaller? Does that mean that the synesso triple is really a quad, or the quad is a big triple? Confused. [smiley=undecided.gif]

It fits my PF from a Faema E98 Compact A1 (cimbali guts), but I understand the PFs from combalis can vary greatly in depth, the internal radius, and also diameter, with some not being able to take a synesso double due to the diameter not being big enough.

          Cheers

My ridgless synesso triple 21g is a smidge bigger then the quad. The synesso is my fav. The quad does not really fit the Silvia group like mentioned.

Ok thanks, so same as mine. Looks like the synessos are oversized in capacity.

              Cheers

                Hmmm... interesting.

La Cimballi call theirs a quad, 7g is a standard single so a 28g basket becomes a quad. I had no trouble getting 30g of espresso ground coffee in one I tested here.

The one being called a triple might well be working on 10g per single shot (or whatever the US convert to)

Is this for experimentation or are people actually getting decent coffee out of this? I have a triple shot basket which I rarely use, it only fits in the naked portafilter though (junior D/1 la cimbali).

After I acquired them they quickly became my standard basket in my La Cimbali M28/2. I now rarely use any other basket. They produce as good an extraction as any other basket Ive ever used.

I get a very decent shot from my Synesso triple (a smidge bigger than the CS quad), its good for when you need a big kick start in the morning!! [smiley=cheesy.gif]

Have not tried the CS quad as my tamper is too big.

                      Cheers

Im using my quad all the time now, partly because its a better fit with my tamper.

The 58mm quad works extremely well with my Rocket Giotto, especially when you need a good heartstarter in the morning but dont have the time to make (or drink) a couple of lattes. Im really happy with it (and so are my friends).

Its a tight fit, but it works on my 2009 Silvia, and I imagine that a naked portafilter would be a better fit as it does sit a millimeter too high.

Question for those with the quad basket, I seem to be getting the exact same flow rates on the quad as I do for my double.
This morning I ran it until it started to flow at a lighter colour which took about 60 seconds and yielded roughly double what I usually extract from my double basket in 30 seconds or less.
I thought it tasted fine, but does everyone else just make quad ristrettos?
