Does anyone know of a local seller of these baskets, They are available from overseas online shops but would prefer to buy locally if available. If available from a non sponsor just PM me.
Thanks
We dont. But have you read the information on his site?
"If you have a PID, but dosing the basket incorrect, you better have no PID."
Serious? Youre telling me that if your dosing is wrong youre going to get better results from 20 deg temperature fluctuation than +/- 1 degree? Come on.
"Quality is 10 times better then all others."
And that would be why theyre about as cheap as all others? How exactly is that statement quantified anyway?
Finally there are photos of ugly looking holes that are apparently made by "All other brands, name brands, and after market as OEMs". Not sure how VST came to be included in that list but I guess as a manufacturer other than Rancilio thats what hes saying; and VSTs basket certainly look nothing like that.
Id be interested in hearing from someone who has tried them, but for $10 I think you have to question what youre getting; and given theyve got so many other facts wrong Id question the accuracy of their claims. I know for a fact some who are hopping on the precision basket bandwagon are doing nothing but machining the bottom of a regular basket to make it look good (and thinner and weaker in the process).
Of course no matter what pretty stuff they turn out, unless these guys are scanning each basket to ensure uniform hole sizes (and given VSTs process is patented I doubt it) there are always going to be variations within each basket which will lead to unpredictable performance.

Honestly I have not found his site, if someone could PM me the URL I will have a read.
I am using a 15g VST at present in my big ol lever machine I thought the VST flat bottom straight sides and uniform holes would suit the chacteristics of my lever machines water column I dont think it does.
Accoding to what Ive read the 14g s/fine likes a coarser grind which is what I want to try.
I have also been in touch with Robin re the VST single maybe that would be worth a try as well.

I I think this is what you are looking for:

The fellow running this place is... errr.. different. He has some interesting goods, but the address of the company is a residential home in the greater San Francisco Bay area. I tried to contact him once and got no response, iirc.
Part of the problem with the quotes is, I believe, that English is his second language and no one proofreads his site.
Still, some pretty incredible claims, and on the page linked above, they continue.
I believe what he meant to say was, "If you have a PID, but dosing the basket incorrect, you better MIGHT AS WELL have no PID. " still a ridiculous statement.
The Rancilio microfine and the other 14g microfine maybe the same, maybe out of the same factory but badged different, then again maybe not.
Heres a link to a non sponsor site(sorry) Here showing both baskets scroll down and click on each for details. Are they the same, by the descriptions they share similar characteristics.
Anyone know of a Aussie stockist of the Rancilio microfine or as per my original post the 14g microfine.
