Re: Tamper Advice Wanted
Thanks for the feedback Greg. Very much appreciated, and just the kind of info I was looking for.
Once I upgrade from this machine, I will certainly be ordering one of your custom fit tampers!
InTheCup - thanks for the suggestion, but the dont make them in 51mm.
Cheers,
MrJack

Re: Tamper Advice Wanted
Id be looking at one of the top two if it was me. Ive never found the dumbell style ones on coffeeparts at all comfortable.
The other two are shameless rip-offs of the Reg Barber. I dont like to recommend products that are just copying other peoples hard work, but if they are your only other options the RB design is reasonably comfortable for most people.
The cheapest youd get a Pullman Nexus in that size is $130 plus shipping ($99.95 is only for 58mm flat0) so based on the pricetags on the ones you suggested I expect it will be outside your budget.
HTH,
Greg

Re: Tamper Advice Wanted
Thanks for the feedback Randy.
Perhaps I should rephrase. Im looking to judge which will be most comfortable from comments others make about what they found. I dont expect someone to say "Buy X, it will fit your hand best."
Unfortunately, Ive not come across anywhere within a 3 hour plane ride of here that has these tampers, so Im just trying to get a bit of an idea of other peoples experience to minimise the chance of ending up with something less useful than what Ive already got.

Re: Tamper Advice Wanted
I dont think anyone can answer the question regarding which tamper will be most comfortable for you. Might as well as which underwear is most comfortable. In both cases, you need to find out for yourself.

Re: Tamper Advice Wanted
Im taking from the number of views vs the number of comments, that noone has experience with the tampers in question. So, can anyone comment on tampers of similar shape?
Beyond comments regarding quality, Im mostly looking for which will be the most comfortable and easiest to use.

Tamper Advice Wanted
Hey all,
Being another year older today, Im being given a new tamper as a gift; a 51mm to suit a Breville BES820 with a krups unpressurised basket.
Ive been asked pick one out, but without having many options to try before buying around here, Im wondering if anyone have experience with any of these:
This one, from Di Bartoli
http://www.dibartoli.com.au/product/...Barista_Tamper
This one from Prima
http://www.home-barista.com/marketpl...er-t15259.html
and the Professional Barista Tamper (Item code: JB-043) from Coffee Parts
http://www.coffeeparts.com.au/access...pers-49mm-51mm
While Id love something from Pullman or similar, I think its outside the gift pricerange.
Also chasing a supplier for ACF cups to source a pair of tulips in N46 and a pair in N66. Noone seems to do less than sets of 6. :-/
Thanks in advance.Tags: None
