Re: Leaky Silvia
I dont have a Silvia, but I have noticed this happening on other units Ive used. I tend to tighten the knob the minimum amount needed to stop the flow of steam/water. As the valve cools down the washer/gasket that seals it also cools and contracts causing the valve to leak a bit until its retightened. On my espresso machine once Im done cleaning the head and backflushing after pulling a shot the valve has usually cooled enough that a slight tightening of it at that point is enough to keep it from leaking later.

Re: Leaky Silvia
Tim,
Probably your usual case of metal expanding when hot and contracting when cold (steam valve). No drips when warmed up because the valve and associated gaskets seal themselves.
Mine does exactly the same thing. Important thing to remember when turning your Silvia on is to just tighten the steam knob a bit. Just so it firms.
Mine will let out a drip or two five minutes or so after switching on. Youll also notice that the knob will turn freely clockwise just a touch when cold.
Nothing to really worry about. Just remember not to over tighten the knob or youll wear the seals.

Leaky Silvia
Hi All
Occasionally while my Silvia is on it leaks from the steam pipe, not a great deal but enough to make a small pool of water on the bench unless I see this happening and tighten the steam knob.
Has anyone else experienced this??
