I'll answer that. I used it for a few months but didn't like the fact that you can't see how far the tamper had gone into the basket. I have gone back to a normal tamper. One which has a thin base. This allows me to have better control including having a level tamp. This doesn't mean its not suitable for someone else its just that I've outgrown it!

I'm looking for one, do you want to sell it? In anycase I need to know the exsact measurement as many tampers are being sold with inaccurate measurements eg what is said to be 58mm is actually 57.3mm.Originally posted by barri View PostI'll answer that. I was wondering if they do that to say it'll fit a 58mm basket, this makes sence.

Hello,
This discussion is interesting,I've recently received one of these tampers and I reckon their great, mind you the unit I received was from a CS member who had the misfortune to drop it onto a hard surface, damaging one area of the rim.
Sold as damaged,I offered a suitable price which pleased it's owner, now I have it and using as much as I can, considering some group handles I use won't fit! The majority do fit well though and makes a professional job of correctly tampering.
I had to disassemble competely and machine ( reface) the surface to the flat again, removing the gouge/ chip.
Works like a new one again, for half the price.
I would imagine the damage to these heavy tampers wouldn't be uncommon,so easy to drop them.
However,they can be repaired easily.
cheers,
Mick.
